I went by Northern Tool the other day and picked up a Milwaukee super magnum #6154-20 grinder for 73.00. Thats about 1/2 off. This thing is nice. The manager told me Northern is dropping DeWalt and Mil. so all of them should be discounted. Also Lowes is dropping Milwaukee sometime in March so there will be good deals to be had. Always ask for the zone mngr. at lowes for the xtra off on any clearance tools.
Reply:What are they dropping American brands and going Chinese?  That would be a big surprise! Great deal on a quality tool!
Reply:Milwaukee is no longer an American brand, they have been owned by a Chinese comapny since 2005.Jack
Reply:I did not know that Makita is now made in China, but their chop saw page on their website states that.  I have not seen any referenced sources about a Chinese company owning Milwuakee, though.   If you have that info, please post it.Milwaukee info:Many Milwaukee tools are still made in the United States, and the majority are assembled in the United States. We have manufacturing plants in Blytheville, Arkansas and Jackson, Greenwood and Kosciusko, Mississippi. Because of the global marketplace, some Milwaukee items are sourced overseas, as are parts in just about every item you purchase today, from automobiles to consumer electronics.Selective outsourcing helps to bring more products to market faster. As a result, we are able to serve our customers with a strong, comprehensive product line at competitive prices.Keep in mind these tools are still designed by our engineers to Milwaukee’s exacting standards. When we do manufacture a product overseas, be it at a sister company in Europe or elsewhere, we do so to the highest standards of quality. These tools are backed by our Five Year Limited-Warranty that is second to none. We clearly mark each tool and package with the country of origin.
Reply:I called a friend about Milwaukee, who informed me- "Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation is owned by Techtronic Industries, a company based in Hong Kong. TTI Coporation".  I did not know that.

Reply:Originally Posted by platypus20Techtronic also own Ryobi, and other companies. I looked at all of the tools at the local Milwaukee distributors, and about 85% of them were made in China, the only ones I saw made in the USA were the 2 large angle drills and a couple of saws, everything else was China, my BIL who lived in Milwaukee, WI and worked for Milwaukee tools, said the whole design office is now over there, the only thing left in the US is a couple of assembly plants.Jack
