Any of you guys have an opinion on the two? Which is better in your opinion and why?
Reply:I own an Invertec v250-s and it is excellent. For your miller vs lincoln, the miller de-rates on single phase power, the lincoln does not.For example, on single phase at 200 amps, the miller is 50% duty cycle, the lincoln is at 100%.Miller reduces to 200 amps max on single phase, lincoln is still 275 amps.Last edited by MinnesotaDave; 11-23-2014 at 09:11 PM.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Invertec, hands down.I've owned two, and they were awesome machines.Millers suck.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024

Reply:We have the CST 280 Millers. Run well and are preferred over the Miller 304 for stick. As for the duty cycle of 50% at 200 amps, we don't even come close to that. Never ran the lincoln. Can't go wrong with either one. The 280 weighs 41 pounds and list for $2701.00   http://www.millerwelds.com/products/stick/cst-280/  Lincoln is 54 pounds and list for $2,199.00
Reply:The Miller has a much more refined TIG mode, touches off better and goes out much faster when you pull back. The Invertec has a better hot start and more voltage and better response when whipping stick. The Miller is more compact and the autolink is nicer than the Invertec's somewhat primitive input voltage selection system (you have to open a side panel and move a wire connection & flip a switch. The CST gives you 4 voltage maps, the Ivertec has infinite control. They both seem to be equally indestructible, but the fit and finish on the CST components seems nicer when you open them up. The Ivertec will have extra glue, insulation, and wire, where the CST is very neat inside, with a more sensible path for air.  Either way, you will not be disappointed, they are great machines.Constant Current Weldor.

Reply:The thing is I currently have four welders and I can't really justify having more then two. I have the Inveretc 275 and I just got the CST 280 so I feel I should get rid of one. Also for some damn reason I have two Miller Maxstar 150s need to get rid of one of those also.
Reply:If you have both why not run both and decide which one you like and dump the other ???Journeyman / Red Seal Welder (What a useless test)Miller CST 280Miller XMT 350Miller 12vs XtremeEvolution Evo 28 mag drillEvolution 380 Dry Cut saw

Reply:Def. CST 280!
Reply:I own one, use it regularly, only once with a foot pedal. The only thing the remote does is give you a percentage of the chosen amperage on the dial. Because it  has no hi-frequency, the pedal literally does nothing for the start. From the Lincoln page: Touch-Start TIG design permits the DC TIG welding arc without high frequency starting.I'm not trying to be a dick, I just have trouble with misinformation. Just to be sure, I am talking about a Lincoln V275-S. Perhaps you have the Local/Remote switch in the wrong position when you are trying to initiate the arc?Constant Current Weldor.
