Welding Stainless to Carbon Steel

I work for a ground storage tank/pressure tank building company and was asked to weld stainless clips to the inside of a mild steel ground storage tank on Friday.  I was using 309L rods, the location of the clips only allowed me to use a stick welder, and I am having a lot of porosity.  I cleaned the area well, on both the tank and the clips, and I'm running the 1/8 rod at about 120-125.  The weld itself doesn't look too bad except for random spots of porosity.  The welds are horizontal, one weld on the topside of the clip and one on the bottom side of the clip.  Any tips to make the welds better?Matthew MortonTexas A&M '06Logsdon Seminary '13"Who Dares Wins""AFTF""WH2PH"SA 200 (Code: 5337)TB 302CP 302 w/22A Wire FeederMillerMatic 200Miller Syncrowave 200MillerMatic 252BurnTables 4x4 CNC MachineHypertherm 65

Reply:Also keep rod as close as you can, stainless rods don't like a very long arc.
