Where can I get a throat protector for my NexGen if there is such a thing. Any ideas if not.- Matt
Reply:They probably have em, but we just cut up an old pair of welding leathers, and pop rivet a little flap onto the inside of the bottom of a spare helmet. About a 6" square. I only use this when I am tig welding things like stainless sheet, where the reflection alone will give you a nasty sunburn. Most days I dont use that helmet, but if I have to tig all day long, I might pull it out.
Reply:Good point (tig weld) I mainly do mig (flux) either flat or vertical. It's the vertical I am worried about because I'm in confined space. I have to lay on my side for 5 hours daily and I seem to catch a few strays falling off. Just trying to keep my skin covered. I know what your talking about with the leather, there's a guy in a different building that has put this together and that's why I ask. I never have a chance to see his set up.Thanks
Reply:I think Jackson makes a nice leather flap that mounts with Velcro, (it has self adhesive Velcro buttons for the helmet) I will check on it, unless someone helps us first.Just my  opinion, not from a book, just from the road.Howes Welding Inc.www.howesweldinginc.com
Reply:While we're on this path, does anyone know of a leather back for your head/neck that uses velcro? Might be a mite uncomfortable on a hot day but it beats having the nasties roll down the back of your shirt. What about using plain old compressed air at about 2-3 psi piped into the hood? I'm not talking respirator for dangerous stuff, just a little air to move the hot air and sweat out from under the hood.I found this:http://www.jacksonproducts.com/prodG...tId=20&pgId=87Looks a little scary to me. Has anyone ever used one? It looks hot and claustrophobic. If you could remove the front lens part and fit the rest to your hood it certainly would protect your neck/ears/back of head really well.Last edited by wallythacker; 02-15-2007 at 09:54 AM.Craftsman 230a Buzz-box,  Lincoln 140T & 180T, Century K2789, PUROX W202 O/A14" cheapo chop saw that cuts straight and square!A toolbox of the cheapest Chinese tools money can buy"Real" tools all old reliable Husky/Craftsman/Proto stuff
