If any of you have done any work for big commercial contractors, some GC's require you to send them your "operation and maintance book for handrail" either pipe rail, ornamental rail ect.... has anyone had to do this before? If so anybody got a form or pre-made one? Not much in maintenance on these handrail stuff. Thanks
Reply:operation of a handrail? grab it with your hand on it while going up or down stairs
Reply:haha, no kidding right?? I don't understand why they are making us this do this... That is why I came to the forums to see if anyone has ever been through something like this.. My first request in 7 years ... I think they are looking for more of the maintenance side of it.
Reply:Paint as needed? Is this happening on one job, or several? Sounds like a PM straight outta college
Reply:We do a lot of city and state jobs that ask for this type of thing. Think of it as an owners manual for the railing. Explain materials used, fastener size and any engineering you may havethat applies to the design of the rail. If you bought pre-made parts or components use the cut-sheets from the manufacturer you got them from. I just had to pay for a stamped drawing for some aluminum pipe rail that matches THOUSANDS of feet of existing rail on site. Sometimes you just have to play by their rules.
