I'm wondering if anyone uses a Knaack box or similar as a tool box? I currently work as a heavy equipment mechanic in a shop so I have a roll around box but this summer I'm going to have the opportunity to go work in the field. The drawback is no shop to work in and will likely be working on a barge so no truck to work off either. I'm familiar with using that gang boxes to store larger tools and parts but I haven't seen any with mechanic tools in them, if anyone has tips for using one this way or pictures of their serious if appreciate it
Reply:I use a jobox piano hinge box but small tools can be a hassle. Maybe check out the Montezuma hinged lid road box. That design seems like it would work well.

Reply:What Ive always done with large boxes is throw smaller hand tools and other misc small items in other tool boxes. If you can get a decent 3 or 4 drawer box with most of your mechanical tools in it, you should be set. Plop it in the job box, or even make a divided area inside for the toolbox and other similar items. Thats how I would do it, if I were to need to do it again.
Reply:I really like the layout of the Montezuma box and what I have heard they are pretty durable and stuff stays in place pretty well. You might want to consider the piano box that has the flip down front ramp as that Montezuma box will be heavy.
Reply:Put a smaller top and bottom chest inside this sort of thing http://www.princessauto.com/en/detai...it/A-p8375586e

Reply:Anything can be pushed over the sideUnless you use some big magnets.
