Hi,I'm searching for 5-6" casters for my soon-to-be workbench. Will weigh around 1,500 lbs when complete.Northern Tool has the Chinese 6 inch casters for about $19.I'd really rather get something USA made, but the only thing I can find American made are super nice casters (say 3-5k lbs rating), which are typically $100+ ea. Anyone know of any "standard" casters made in USA? Thanks
Reply:I feel a little stupid now but after a ton of searching other manufacturers, I went back to NT's website for giggles and found one that claims to be US made. 2x the price. But, better quality over the next 40 years, may be worth it. Anyone have experience with these fairbanks casters?http://m.northerntool.com/products/s...ct_29294_29294
Reply:You haven't even come close to looking for them. http://www.casters-sales.com/servlet...--fdsh-/Detail Anything for sale is on the web."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Local contracters supply has them for rolling scaffolding, for $$ tho.-c-What is the sound of one knee jerking?
Reply:FarmerSamm,That didn't return in Google searches because the seller didn't list "USA" on the page. Looks like the steel ones are China. However, now I know I need to check a search with "US" spelled out as well. Thank you.

Reply:McMaster Carr, you can ask them country of origin on anything you buy from them and they mostly have everything in stock, they carry a lot of U.S.A. made
Reply:http://www.garlandsinc.com call and ask for price and origin on the configuration you want. My guess is They will be 30-50% less than McMaster on the same caster.Last edited by 54stude; 12-20-2014 at 10:19 AM.
Reply:Payson casters is right down the road from me. I used to deal with their president as our sales rep all the time. I love that company. Their prices aren't the best, but their customer service is outstanding. They will sell to individuals, and if you have a tax exemption certificate, you automatically get OEM and distributor pricing, which is pretty decent prices. Give them a call, couldn't hurt! Harold is their president, he'll work with you.

Reply:Colson casters (as mentioned above) are excellent quality, made in America, and through the right supplier are very affordable. We use their stainless sites for our food processing equipment. There is a supply house local (I think they have other locations too) called power house industrial supply. Look them up and give them a call. My local office is is Springdale, AR.
