For those of you with cold saws, What blades are you using. I need a god blade for mine and I have seen them in the price range of $110-$356. are they just blades, or do you get what you pay for. The one that came with mine is a 120 tooth 315mm x 2mm x 32mm bore. I need a 280 tooth for thin wall tubing (14 ga).Next I noticed I can get thicker blades 2.5mm or 3.0 mm v. the 2mm thats on there now. Any difference that the thickness will make. Good or bad? Also It list I need the 280 tooth for the thin stuff, but it says I need 240 tooth for 1/8" tubing. Can I cut the 1/8" with the 280 tooth, or should I compromise and get a 260 tooth. Can I do that. Will the 240 tooth cut the thin wall ok. I am wondering which blade to get if I need to cut 14 ga and 11 ga tube.Just wondering-Ryanand thanks for the info.
Reply:I'd like a god blade too. It would be unstoppable! Lenox usually makes good blades. Freud makes some good ones as well. Check to make sure it is the right type of blade for the saw speed and the material and the thickness. The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...

Reply:Anyone running a true cold saw, and have ANY input on the blade selection.
Reply:I buy my blades off of ebay, 4 blades used $15-20 each. One new one for, I think, $35 .00.I would call Tru Cut in Ohio, ask for Paula. That is who I use for resharps and blade advice.Sorry I can't remember the phone number, I just called Thursday.Tim Beeker.

Reply:you should have enough teeth per inch that at 2-3 teeth are in contact with the stock.hence thin stock requires more teeth oper inch.
Reply:I called a blade manufacturer and they said I could get by with a 200 tooth blade and a 220should work fine. I did however get a 240 blade just to be safe on the thin stuff. He said it was bettrer to have more teeth than I need than the other way around. He said the 240 teeth may not cut as fast as the 200 teeth but I wont be breaking them. |
