Ok so I got the upgrade to a 50amp 250 volt plug installed...hella power coming out I can tell, stick settings are: arc force-6 hot start-3 using Lincoln 3/32 12 with fleetweld 37-rsp, I used 75a on top bead, 85 on bottom weld,  the slag is burnt to holy hell and hard as a rock trying to hammer it off which is so unnatural compared to the 7018s @ school, the arc was out-of-control and you can see where it splattered I'm not a great welder I'm new at this but I am very good considering I've only been doing it a couple weeks send this picture and it's welds are not normal for me, I was a bit shaky as I'm still working on my grip with this extra light electrode but I just don't feel like this is how it's supposed to feel, can't stress enough the burn factor before I polished and hammered...Plz helpLast edited by Dallasnewb; 12-21-2014 at 04:42 PM.

Reply:Your settings sound fine, I generally run 6013s at about the same current as 7018s, around 85A for 3/32". The 3/32 electrodes are harder to control than 1/8" because they burn fast and they flex more. If you don't have much experience with stick, practice with 1/8" rods until you are able to maintain a consistent arc length and travel speed. Then you can move on to 3/32 and have an easier time with them.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
