Pakmaster 50 problem

I got a TD pakmaster 50 from work yesterday and can't get it to work.  It cut about 12" (real bad) and then just stopped.  It cuts on and clicks when I pull the trigger but won't fire up.  I took the covers off and blew it out then turned it back on and I could see a little black component sparking.  I took the item out and on the back was 2 small rods that had about a 1/16" gap in between them.  Anyone have a clue what's wrong with it?DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:electrode is ok? TD has a good web site with manuals, in the manual i believe you will find a trouble shooting guide. hope that helps
Reply:The component you are talking about is the spark gap assembly...which is part of the high frequency generator that ionizes the air...and allows the arc to fire. It is supposed to spark...that generally means that you have high frequency. More than likely you have a simple problem....check the consumable parts in the torch (refer to the operators manual if you have one).....do you have spares? If you do...replace the elctrode and nozzle (also known by Thermal Dynamics people as the "tip".Check incoming air pressure....should be 65 to 70 psi with the air flowing at the torch.Jim
