Reply:All 6010 older then a week needs a treatment in water.Soak them good for 10 mins, then lay them out on a towel to dry....Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:6010 normally has a very pleasant smell.  Or is that 5p? I get confused easily. Anyways, one of them needs to be bottled in an aerosol can because it is mmm good.
Reply:5P is 6010. If they are too dry they won't burn properly but dipping them in water for a second is all they need. Then just wring them out or wipe them off. There's not really any rods that smell nice. Put a glade refill on the piece you're welding and the heat will have it smelling like roses in no time.
Reply:Originally Posted by CEPNo it's not. You need to recondition them. Let them air dry over night, or a day or two, then they will be good as new.

Reply:Those might have been alright but after rebuilding a set of "Brodix" aluminum cylinder heads and installing new guides, hard seats, and planing them flat, I then remembered my parts washer had caustic soda in the tank. I elected to use the dishwasher in the house rather than drain the tank which was alright cause my wife was at work and wouldn't be home for about four hours. Wouldn't you just know it she took 1/2 a day off and didn't tell me. Upon walking in the back door, and wondering what I was washing, (knowing full well there were no dishes when she left) what's she do? opens the dishwasher door and sees a pair of heads on the shelves, pushrods in the silverware basket, roller rocker arms in her stainless colander, and me in the periphery knowing my a$$ is had. That was in 1998, or 99 and I haven't touched the thing since.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
