Long story short, I brought my hobart handler 140 and longevity mig 140 to my dads house to do some comparison welding today. Had one machine there and had to run home so I figured I would grab the other as we were welding on some stuff today. This is what happens when you get a day off with nothing to do. Here is the breakdown.Hobart Handler 140. .030 wire. New Tip, old nozzle, old tip adapter. Made in USAI like this machine, but something is wrong with the regulator I use on it or the gun. Seems to have porosity issues from time to time or maybe it's just my tank because today on my dads tank it welded good.110v machine, welds good. 1/8" MAX. I wouldn't trust it unless you can weld both sides. Maybe on flux it would be a good machine. Beads on the left of each plate was me just dragging the puddle. On the right was a cursive motion. All in all I felt it did pretty good for a $500 machine.Longevity Migweld140. .023 wire. Made in China. The gun that came with it is cheap so I upgraded to a coaxial style cable as the other machines have. From the looks if you take them both apart it's a much nicer gun and looks like it can carry the amperage much better. I'm going to keep the gun that came with it for a backup. All new consumables. So from welding side by side you can really notice a difference between .023 and .030 wire. So this thing is getting .030 wire as soon as this little spool runs out.Getting the wire fed through seemed to be more challenging than it should have been, but maybe it just needs to break in a little. Once I got it all set it fed really good and didn't give me issues. I can say I did notice the post flow on this machine where as the hobart I don't recall hearing any. I'm going to have to look at that again.Same with the welds. Drag on the left and cursive on the right. I feel for a $359 machine this thing will give my hobart a run for it's money. Wonder how well it does with non upgraded gun.Blue-point 115. .030 wire. Made in Italy. New tip, and nozzle. Old others.I have to be honest. It's the bigger and heavier than the other. (hobart next and longevity lightest) but I really like this machine. Its also a 110v machine but has 10 heat settings! Had the smoothest feed rate as well.Inside it's nice and has a little liner before the wire goes into the drive roll to keep the wire straight, and the other two did not. I would have to say I think personally by far this machine is the best 110v machine I think I have used. Too bad it says blue-point so everyone thinks it's worth a crap ton of money (like the guy on ebay that has it for $700)I'd rate the bluepoint#1 and longevity #2 and hobart #3. Seriously not how I thought this basic test would turn out but it was fun none the less and me and my dad were both guessing which would be the best one. I wouldn't do 1/8" for structural on any 110v machine, so I really want to bump up to a 220v machine and see what I can do. But maybe later, who knows. So this is what I thought, but I want to know what you guys think by looking at the pictures. I know it's not an apples to apples test, but I didn't want to get into changing wire etc etc.And no gap on any of these plates.
