Hey guys I've got a few cast iron intakes that have cracks on the bottom sides. I'm trying to help out the local stock car guys.Since these aren't seeing the heat as say a head, can I get away with tig welding it with a stainless filler and pre/post heat in a regular kitchen oven?
Reply:IIRC the last cast repair I did was with scratch start, DCEN, preheated to 500* F in an oven and used either stainless filler or nickel 99 (can't remember) then put it in sand overnight to let it slow cool. I'm pretty sure you could use the oven to let it slow cool, just step it down 50-100 degrees every hour or so but sand or a fireproof blanket would be best I think.Last edited by Jeromy_E; 05-04-2013 at 10:36 PM."Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself.
