A friend got me access to a plasma cutter and shear to make all the triangles.  Used masking tape to assemble and tacked on the inside corners.  Then welded and ground outside corners. Attached Images

Reply:Nice. Now you just need directional mounting so you can hack government satellites while enjoying your fire.
Reply:Very cool!

Reply:Nice!Got any holes in the bottom?
Reply:Love it. That had to take some time to make.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:Weld with the tombstone, yes.  Take some time, yes.  An evening to make a special gage to cut the pieces, an evening to cut the pieces and a day or so to fit, weld and grind.Holes in the bottom, yes.  There's a pentagon shape to make the bottom with a hole at each tip.  I gave it to my daughter and they filled it with pea gravel to the top of the first row of triangles to lift the fire a bit and protect the steel from the coals. Thanks for the comments!
Reply:Nicely done - I like geometric shapes I have a soft spot for the tombstone welders.  Only welder I used at my first "real welding job."Dave J.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Awesome! Any more pics?GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Looks good, I would like to see the finished pics too. great job
Reply:I didn't get any good pics during the build but here it is installed. Attached Images
Reply:Nice, I like the idea of using small pieces which sometimes you can get for free. Nice project. Now if you had all of those in scrap left overs, you would not know what to build.
Reply:Great project! Like the cool and interesting design, great use for leftovers and scraps. I'm sure it will be used for a long time. Well done!
Reply:You gonna add legs ??  May three that are like pyramids .
Reply:Nice job, gotta remember that idea (I've been toying with the idea of building one).If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Here's a website to help with dimensions of triangles.http://www.desertdomes.com/dome2calc.htmlHere's the 'speed square' I made to cut the triangles.  There were two sizes required.  First I cut my sheet into strips at the height of the triangle, then used the special speed square to slice them off the strip.  You first get one angle cut on the end of the strip, then flip the strip over, jam the corner into the guide that is bolted the edge of speed square and cut again. It's hard to tell from the pic but there are two slightly different angles on the jig, as you need two slightly different sized triangles.  Just flip the square over to make the other angle.  Imagine the speed square on top of the strip.  Red is the cut strip and yellow is the your next cut starting from the top. Reply:Here's the AutoCAD sketches for the shapes and the speed square.  The shapes with numbers are the pieces and count for each.  The gadget in the bottom portion is the speed square.  It's three layers thick, the pieces at the bottom provide the edge guide, you flip it over to switch angles.  The strips on the right show the cutting concept for chopping the strips into triangles.  The small triangles on the left were for a smaller one that I never built.
