These hammers are on sale for $12.74 including shipping.what i would like to know if this is a good hammer & good deal.  thanks for your help.
Reply:Used to do quite a bit of framing, and deck building before nail guns were popular.28oz. wafflemaker hammers aren't worth crap unless you're driving pole barn nails.  Too much hammer to swing all day long.  And they're murder on thumbs occasionally20-22 oz. smoothface is easier to swing (let the hammer do the work, don't "force" it into the nail head, let it fall on the nail head).  Overhead, or vertical is easier with the lighter hammer too.IMHO"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Atlas Tomahawk, wood handle. As far as idiot sticks, I mean carpenters hammers go give me a 24oz Estwing.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Plumb with a wood handleEl Cheapo chipper with handy steel brush on back. (And a replaceable brush to boot!)  Who says I ain't a high roller?"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Hart Tool Co. makes the coolest wooden handled hammers I have used. I have a 22 or 24 oz. Antivibe, they work ok. I use a 20 oz Estwing everyday though!! Love those little brutes. Reply:Get yourself an Estwing 20oz.
Reply:Be a man = get the 28 oz. That is all I use when I am not using my pneumatic nailers. You don't have to hit the nail as many times

Reply:This is my hammerhttp://www.duluthtrading.com/store/g...ure=product_16It's sweet. It's really light and hits like a really heavy hammer. Kind of like a dead blow type.
Reply:At that price, I'd make sure to take it in every night, and stash that baby under the pillow. It was always my wrists that got to hurtin'.  I always let the hammer pretty much fall, but the repeated swing back up was what got to my joints.  I suppose the vibration didn't do any good either.Splitting mauls are pretty good for tearin' up joints too."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:"The titanium 15-oz., hammerhead has the same nail driving force as a 24-oz. steel hammer."How is that statement justified?Even so, I'm still not buying Joel B's Youtube hammer juggler act.
Reply:I can't tell you a lot about carpenter's hammers. My dad, who could drive a nail with the best of them, told me a long time ago if I bought a hammer or ax to buy a Plumb because they would last forever. That is what I bought and they are still going strong.Stanley used to make the best chipping hammer I ever picked up but I havent seen one in years. I squirreled away a new one years ago and decided to get it out and use it a few weeks ago. Guess the squirrels ate it because I haven't found it yet. Dam CRS is gonna get the best of me yet.

Reply:It hits like a heavier hammer because it has a "dead blow" effect. It has no vibration feed back. Just good solid hits. I'm not afraid to hurt it at all. I've smashed the living crap out everything I could. A guy that's working for me has had one of the ones with a wooden handle and non replaceable head for over ten years.
Reply:when I was framing houses 40 hours a week I used a wood handled 32oz Vaughan waffle face hammer.2 hit 16 penny vinyl coats all day long , one hit to set, one hit to sink. No problem !
