snap on YA5550 plasma cutter

hey all, i just picked up a snap on ya5550 plasma cutter.. i got it for a great price $ 000!!!the guy i got it from said it was a mystery machine, and that it only worked when it wanted to.. well so far i have not been able to get it to work.it powers on.. and when on SET UP  air flows.. the air regulator says 65-70 psi, so i know i am GETTING ENOUGH AIR.. when you take it off of set up and try to cut. i don't get an arc or any air flowing. the consumables are good and i know the trigger works cause i tested it.the lights for the cutting power and trigger opperation do not light up.when on set up the trigger light is on.i emailed snap on and they sent me a users manual and parts list, but it has no diagnostics section.this is my first plasma cutter, though i have used one many times.WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK THE PROBLEM COULD BE

Reply:Try cranking the regulator all the way up, I have the same machine that had the same problem and it worked on mine. There is a second regulator inside the back where the air line goes in that limits the air to about 80 psi  my gauge said 70 psi and it acted the same, upon closer inspection the gauge is reading 15-20 psi high.Hope this helpsBill

Reply:The YA5550 was a Century/Cebora/Clore machine made in Italy.It has an interlock preventing current flow if the torch isn't assembled correctly, and another preventing current flow, if the pressure is too low.You need a minimum of 65PSI measured while air is flowing.Setting your pressure to 90 with the machine off is a fine starting point.  The manual should show that its safe up to 120PSI.BTW, one quick call to Snap On, and you can get the manual very easily.  I've done this a few times, and they are happy to email you a .pdf file, fax it, or even mail it to you.
