The building is an old 10 story shoe factory that takes up the whole city block. They used to make shoes in the upper stories and use slides to slide them down to the basement to semi trucks. The guy that made it is a sculptor/welder. Every tunnel you crawl through has a hidden path or passage way. the building has a 10 story slide, a 5 story slide. They have 2 airplanes, with welded cages, cat walks, to get up to them. The place is pretty cool. Here is my photo album of the city museum, sorry for all the non welding pics and family pics in the slideshow. http://s267.photobucket.com/user/jdg.../city%20museum"Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not."Thomas Jefferson."When the people fear their government, there is tyranny when the government fears the people, there is liberty."Thomas Jefferson.

Reply:Yikes! I've got claustrophobia just looking at that last picture. I'd crawl around and get my arms and legs stuck through all the slots, sort of like pneumatic coil hose gets stuck over everything you don't want it to!That's pretty neat looking - where is this?Miller Dynasty 200 DXMiller CP-300 with 30A feederHypertherm Powermax 900Oxy-fuel w/Harris torchesScotchman Glide-in bandsawMonarch 10EE latheEmi-Mec Autoturn latheDeckel FP2NC milling machinePro-Tools 105 Bender

Reply:Wow. If I'm ever in St. Loise I'll definitely need to check it out. Here's the website http://www.citymuseum.org/ I found it pretty interesting. I wish the attractions section had more photos but I guess that's the point... they want visitors. Thanks for sharing your photos. The photobucket url is broken.
Reply:Just google city museum and click on the "images" tab up by the web, shopping etc tabs. Should be lots of photos. I think there are some youtube videos about it as well. There is a small carry deck crane on the roof, a fire truck, bus, couple of planes, a working ferris wheel. It goes on and on. |
