How can i bend 3/4 tubing?

How can i bend a 90* angle with 3/4 18guage tubing. I don't have a tubing bender and don't want to buy one because they cost alot. I tried bending it around a brake roader but it still kinked. Would a 3/4 conduit bender work? ThanksYa gotta spend money to make money!

Reply:Shane, you can also try packing the tube, TIGHTLY, with sand. Make a wood plugs for each end, pound one in with a mallet, upend the tube and start filling. Have a small rod or dowel to help tamp as you fill, After you get about the botton 6-10 inches full of sand, start tamping the crap out of it. Take it all the way to the top, tap in the second plug. Try that. It will help if you clamp one edge of the start of the bend tight. I am not sure if you should heat your tubing or not. Try a test piece first.

Reply:Thanks. Yea i got 3/4 od tubing. I saw some 3/4 conduit benders on ebay that seem pretty cheap. Also i have to do some notching too. Correct me if im wrong but, its 3/4 od tubing so i need a 3/4 holesaw right? THanksYa gotta spend money to make money!

Reply:WelderShaneI don't think you 3/4" conduit bender will work.  The od is over 1 inch.  Check the chart above Also search  conduit dimensions.  Perhaps somebody will step in here.Though the way I see it Conduit and Emt are used to carry substance (wire), thus the knowing the capacity is important.  It is measured like pipe.I do realize that typically pipe is measured id and structural tubing is od.  Seems conduit and emt are different id measured. I got my bender for less than 10 dollars handle second hand store.  Check craigslist and pawn shops.

Reply:rode, Im not sure how many bends i need yet. Im designing a rear rack for an atv and i have a bunch of 3/4 tubing that im going to make them out of.Ya gotta spend money to make money!
