Reply:Looks like no shielding gas.  Tungsten burnt up super quick?Dave J.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Hello Nberg03, hope you don't take this wrong, was your gas on? and are you using straight Argon? It looks as if there is no shielding. Also check the way that your internals are installed on the torch. I ran into an instance one time where someone had reversed the direction of the collet and although you could feel and hear the gas coming out, it apparently caused turbulence or some other sort of gas problem and yielded porosity in the weld bead. Good luck and best regards, Allanaevald

Reply:What machine are you using?  Probably have wrong polarity.
Reply:something is up with the shielding gas, or lack there of.  More details are neededwhat gas are you using?what condition is the torch in?  have you inspected the gas hose?  how much tungsten stickout beyond the cup are you using? 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:100% argon, gas was on for sure, ima have a go at it again, im using eastwood tig 200
Reply:Check your O-ring on your back cap also.If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before the bag of luck is empty."-Grandad circa 1990ish
Reply:it was gas, my bad just went back out there to try for second time

Reply:im kind of hovering and thats prob not a good stance.. i think if i had a stable table id do better
Reply:yea doing it free-hand with your arms in the air is no good and it will do no one any good to give you advice at this point.  Of course it sucks because you can't really "steady" yourself.  Get on a stable platform, stop welding in the wind, stop the arc if you touch the tungsten to the puddle and contaminate it---get out another clean tungsten or sharpen the one you just dipped.  Otherwise you'll get nowhere fast.  (The orange-ish smoot is the tell-tale sign of dipping the tungsten and not stopping to regrind or use a new clean tungsten)Bust out the grinder with the grinding disk or flap wheel and get into the habit of getting the millscale off.  In that last pic there is no evidence of proper metal prep for TIG welding.  It needs to be practically surgically clean.  Meaning a full wipe-down with acetone of the work piece, filler rod and tungsten.  Work on establishing a puddle about 3/16" in diameter and sliding your hand over about 1/8" at a time, pausing just a tad to make sure the puddle follows the arc.Watch all the videos at weldingtipsandtricks.com or on their youtube channel to get some ideas. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:You should be able to get 120amps DC or more on a 1/16 Tungsten, clip a visegrip to the work and rest your torch hand on it, focus the heat.SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A
