Been a lurker on here for a while.  Its been a great place to find information.  I figured as much as you guys have give me, I should start participating. So I give you my welding table, a continuing evolving project. The details..Welded with a Miller Shop Master 300 and S-21 wire feeder.  1/2 3x8' top, 3x3x1/8 angle iron, 2x4x1/8 square tubing.  Some materials were purchased, other items where drops, or salvage.  I wanted the table to be functional, strong, and heavy, but I also wanted to make sure it was different, and mine. Here are some pictures... Tell me what you think!

Reply:Thanks. They work very well so far. I'm glad I decided to make a little design instead of just doing it a simpler way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
Reply:Looks good. I have a Shopmaster 300 and run an S52 feeder unit and have a big Wilton vice just like that. How strange is that?

Reply:Looks very medieval.I like it. If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before the bag of luck is empty."-Grandad circa 1990ish

Reply:Looks good!  Should last a couple of lifetimes!  Need overs on those electrical outlets.   Best  Bob
Reply:I posted during the build over on garage journal and someone mentioned steam punk there. I didn't know what that was until I looked it up, but it definatly has that vibe. I've got a bunch of left over copper tubing from running air lines in my shop and I plan on using what I have left I put some air connectors on the front of the table. Should look cool. Ill post some pictures when I get around to putting that together. Yep, covers have already been put on, those pictures were taken while I was still covering walls. Thanks for the kind words. I was worried about getting burned on my design.
Reply:Nice.   What's the reason for the tubing through the legs?   Strengthening, or do you have plans to use them?FWIW, I've found that electrical outlets on the legs of the table to be very useful.  That way you don't have the cords  running across the work area.
Reply:The lightening holes were just for fun. But I have found they make a nice rest for an unused airline so you don't have to bend over to pick them up off the floor. And they hold filler rod well too then your repositioning a piece.
Reply:I dig it!  With no vertical supports in the middle of the thing, are you getting any sag?  Wondering why you put the leveling feet (great idea!) on the outside corners, vs the inside.  I'd probably be kicking the things.  Good work.-AaronJet 17.5" Drill Press1942 South Bend 16x84 Lathe1980s Miller 320A / BP --- 2013 Power Mig 2562012 Jet 7x12 Horizontal BandsawVictor O/A Setup
Reply:very nice idea.as most of my stuff is stick id make tubes longer cap ends and fit them at angles.
Reply:Thanks!  I was concerned with kicking them too. But I intentionally made sure they were no wider than the top itself. So far I haven't triped on them yet,And I feel like it gives it a wider base, maybe marginally but it is none the less. As far as table sag, none as of yet. I loaded a 2300 pound load on the center to check deflection and it was negligible. I think 1/16 of an inch. Most of the pieces I weld are less than 1k so I should be fine. The table itself weighs 800 or less from my calculations.Last edited by pottsie454; 09-09-2013 at 12:07 PM.Reason: Correction
Reply:Awesome table. I never get tired of seeing the creativity that goes into one. You could run some solid bar through the holes and have extra space for clamps.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE

Reply:Thanks!  I spend ALOT of time at my bench. And it inspires me in all the work I do. I'm glad I decided to take the extra effort.
Reply:Lol. Well the way I figure it is that you can never tell what you'll get into. I overbuild almost everything incase I have to repurpose it in the future.
Reply:That looks great man, awesome job.I'd rather have it over built for sure
