after learning how to check ocv's from this forumthese are the readings I got(there's a high/low switch on the machine)high/low without a load on the machine and not 'hot' ... just fired up in a January winter dayocv at weld (lead) terminalshigh 70-71low 60receptaclehigh - 130low - 115this is a blackface face machine with the octagon barrelI'm wondering how I could raise my low ocv's to 90ish but keep the receptacle around 115?or maybe a bad shunt? or broken wire? or has the rack been rolled? I've read about this but don't quite understand itty for your timeLast edited by then3wguy; 01-16-2015 at 12:04 AM.
Reply:your ocv is low but receptical is high.did you have the rheostat at 100 when checking ocv?i think 3rd and 100 is baseline for checking ocv, and i get 92 which is high normal.bosses stuff:trailblazer 325maxstar 200my stuff:sa 200fronius transpocket 180100 amp Lincoln w/f97 f350 DITKevin

Reply:after switching to 3rd and 100the terminals were at 79 ish and plug was 109so I turned the governer screw and got 90 at the terminal and 120 at the plugI'm wondering if 120 at the plug is to much?the machine seems to run a little better too, I need to try and find a handheld tachometer to see what rpms it's running at

Reply:That's perfect. 120 is fine @ the receptacle. Burning rod should be noticeably improved.
