I just ordered this equipment. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? I haven't welded flux core wire in 10+ years what is the standard wire for steel construction?
Reply:E71T-8 (NR232 if you like Lincoln) or E71T-11 (NR211). I don't know anything about Multiquip. Reply:i used to use the mq 180 at my old job. also repaired them too. they are a very smooth welding machine. as far as durability, i cant think of a whole lot of repairs i had to do to them. as far as the mq goes, great machine. i dont know much about the ln 25.Millermatic 211weldpack 3200 squirtgunsquare wave 200victory journeyman kitHypertherm 30xptoo much other crap to listtinkerer extraordinaire
Reply:Is your welder CV?I can speak for the LN-25. Its awesome. I have had one for over 20 years, and I bought a second one. (actually its twin, My dad had it)The wire you use depends on what you are going to do. David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:The LN-25 has a switch inside CC/CV. On CC it tries to control the welding voltage by changing the wire speed. A poor system at best. On CV it just feeds the wire at the speed you set and the voltage is kept constant electronically by the power supply. A much better faster way. There is a chart in the door for wire speeds in CC mode.Come on over and try mine....Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:I see Lincoln V300 going for 400 to 900 on Ebone all the time. Do a search. They are CC/CV power supply.Type in "Invertec"DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Well a Lincoln Invertec that is interesting, I was thinking you would say an xmt sized machine. I do a bit of SS kitchen work (tig) and was thinking of something like the invertec for the future. Is the V300 special in that line? Maybe the only one with CC/CV? What size wire will my ln-25 be limited to with this power supply?DAG NABIT, I left my tape on the saw.Wild Fire Welding
Reply:You can run the LN25 from an XMT 304 CC/CV, or any from the XMT 350 line, or any from the Invision line, which are all constant voltage, or from a PowCon 300SM or 400SMT. PowCons with 'M' in the model number have constant voltage output for mig/flux wire welding. The 'S' means constant current for stick welding and the 'T' means it works for tig. PowCons are about the same size/weight as XMT's with similar capabilities, both input and output. I ran my Cobramatics from my PowCon 300SM and it worked great. I found a place locally (San Diego) selling several PowCons for $800 to $1500 on Craig's List. I think it might be Red-D-Arc or RJ Kates. They have a 400SMT for $1200 that looks very tempting.Last edited by DesertRider33; 02-09-2009 at 10:36 AM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:I found the v300 manual. It says it's made for the LN-25 I like the sounds of that. 300amps very good. Comes highly recommended. I found one for $900.DAG NABIT, I left my tape on the saw.Wild Fire Welding
Reply:Looked at the completed listings on ebay they are going cheap. I think I'll set it up to plug into a spider box and build a dryer plug adapter. That should take care of 90% of my needs. Hows that sound?DAG NABIT, I left my tape on the saw.Wild Fire Welding

Reply:You stole it!Sweet aint it?Read the manual (RTFM) I think its down graded to 250 amps on single phase. That is all you will get with 50 amps anyhow.Yer gona love itI just sold my V250S for $600 and put another $700 with it and bought a second V350 Pro. Building a cart for it right now with the LN-25 on top and dual tanks (c/25 Pure Argon)I have a V155-S for stainless in kitchens. No foot pedal, but most of the work I do only needs 110v.David Last edited by David R; 03-14-2009 at 07:50 AM.Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:I have a magnum SG spoolgun. There is a red box needed to hook it up to the V300 or any other lincoln CV machine. The box is only $600 from Lincoln and the stinkin cable to hook the box to the machine is only anther $269.00. Better look for one used....Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
