Lately I have received work requiring some simple machining. Any suggestions on equipment for a small shop. Concerning plate work, 3/8" max simple mill work. Lathe work needed would be 4" max. I've heard of some combo machines but know very little. Reply:TSC carries one for around $800 but I don't know much about it. If you don't need anything heavy duty it might be okDewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:Might also check out Wholesale Tool, Grizzly, and Enco for multi purpose machines. Find the cheapest one, because I got a sneakin' suspicion they all come out of the same factory in China. Look closely, and all's that's different is the paint.Beware though, you'll probably outgrow the machine in a heartbeat. The milling table, distance between centers and swing on the lathe, and drill press capacity is pretty limited."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I got a Smithy machine a few years ago at a gun shop quitting business. It was in excellent condition and worth the money. I really like it. It seems to be a good machine for small jobs..............................."Look Good Doing It"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
