I have it down to several saws, but does  anyone here have or use the newer style horz. saw with the swivel head??? and what do they think of it. can it be tipped up to use in a vertical position...
Reply:my grizzly swivels to allow angular cuts. i belive 90 degrees one way, 45 in the other.
Reply:If you are thinking of ones similar to this Northern Tool bandsaw or this one Homier bandsaw then yes.Like all of the imported saws you need to go thru them, clean them up, replace the lubricants, replace the blade with something of quality and adjust the heck out of them. After that they have both been great saws for what I use them for. I have used both of them in the vertical mode even though only one of them came with a table. The one that did not come with a table said it could not be used in the vertical position but with a little effort I have used it vertical. I had the feeling it was more of a legal-liability disclaimer than a real technical issue. And the flexibility to easily make angled cuts made the extra dollars over a 90 degree only saw well worth it to me.Last edited by arvidj; 04-22-2009 at 06:23 PM.
Reply:I have a jet swivel head.  It can be used vertical.  It does not come with a table for vertical cutting.  You do have to release the down feed cylinder to go vertical. Not big deal to go vertical however, only one large thumb screw  to remove.Nice space saving saw and accurate.
Reply:I have an Ellis, it can be used vertical. You have to make a table for it though.Miller millermatic 251Miller aircrafter 330st, wp201961 Lincoln SA200Ellis 1600 bandsawLogan 820 latheSouth Bend 13"Bridgeport M Head
Reply:Behold the power of a ellis.   The 1100-1600 can swivel and have a optional table you can used for vertical work.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:I did not realize there was a table available. I guess I spoke to soon. I have the 1600, I bought it used and wanted vertical capabilities so I made a table.Miller millermatic 251Miller aircrafter 330st, wp201961 Lincoln SA200Ellis 1600 bandsawLogan 820 latheSouth Bend 13"Bridgeport M Head

Reply:I have the Ellis 1600 Paid $3000.00 including shipping to Alaska. I have had the Jet Enco Chinese saws in the past, (all gone to the scrap heap now), The Jet Chinese saws did not last for me and to get them cutting true one needs to spend hours Fing with them. Then there is the mess of that coolant all over the shop I don't miss that. The Ellis is built in the USA wits US parts and US labor and it is one He!! of a saw. The fine tuning took a few minutes. Ant to swing the blade takes a second or two. If you want a saw that will last your life time and then sell for 1/2 what you paid for it then go with the Ellis. If you want something cheep and made by chinese slave labor you know where to go.
