Picked up this Welder and Speedglas Helmet at a Lawn Sale for $375
Reply:You bought a helmet with a free machine thrown in! good score mate!
Reply:Welcome! What do you think about the welder? You got ac on that thing?
Reply:Thanks mate.I'm happy. I know the welder is not the best welder in the world, but it has a TIG hand piece at least. Just need to buy a gas regulator which I can get for around $100. Then rent an Argon bottle. He also threw in some vice grips and a plate square.I move into a workshop in about a month. So trying to prepare and get as much as I can now. But still a long way to go, lol. One step at a time

Reply:Ac for welding aluminum. U can get a cheap regulator for probably 20$and get a 150 cfh tank atleast
Reply:Ok. I don't see anything that has 'ac' on the welder, so I assume that welding Aluminium would not be possible on this welder? I had intended to get a gas regulator, which from what I have seen after searching the net today cost's between $90 and $100 (In Australia for a half decent one), and hire a tank of Argon. But I am open to suggestions as to what my best option is? I am unsure what cfh tank is, sorryAny suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.CheersLast edited by Bloodstorm; 01-25-2015 at 05:27 AM.
Reply:CFH is cubic feet per hour. "Yankee measuring system" lol You I'm assuming will be using LPM. 1 CFH is equal to 2.119 LPM.HF 98233 Stick/TigHF  95136 PlasmaEastwood TIG200Eastwood MIG250Damn, I cut it twice already and it's still too short!
Reply:Can you get a regulator on eBay? I have seen ones with floating balls for around 25$ and up. Not sure how good those cheap ones are tho. U will need 1/16 and 3/32 thoriated tungsten and 1/16 70s2 filler rod for steel. And there's alot of stainless rods for welding stainless. You only need a # 6 cup at 13 cfh or smaller and less argon
Reply:I would get yourself some thoriated 2% tungsten (1/16 3/32 1/8) sizes.  Get yourself a gas- lens for each size tungsten, and collets for each size tungsten.  Personally I would run a number 8 cup.  You may also need an insulator for the cup to seal tight with the gas lens.  My preference is to run a small back cap on the torch, but you can get medium and large.  Hope any of that helps you.  Have a good one!  One more thing get yourself some 70s-6 filler rod  it flows nice.Last edited by Murphy's law; 01-25-2015 at 02:17 PM.
Reply:Why would you need 1/8 tungsten for such a small welder clearly you have no clue what your talking about!
Reply:Your right you caught me I have no idea what I'm talking about Last edited by Murphy's law; 01-25-2015 at 02:42 PM.
Reply:This spool was 304 sch.10 all joints X-rayed (passed)  all done in the field with no foot pedal.  WELDED WITH 1/8. TUNGSTEN @ 93 AMPS.  So come talk to me when you learn how to weld.  In the field I use 1/8 for everything so I'm not switching **** out all the time.Last edited by Murphy's law; 01-25-2015 at 03:02 PM.
Reply:OK. Thank you all for your advice and suggestions, its much appreciated. So would a set like this be ok? It seems like it might be to 'Cheap'. Plus I don't know if it would have the correct thread for my welder, do all TIG guns have the same threads worldwide?http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TIG-Gas-L...00290#shpCntIdCheers
Reply:[QUOTE=Murphy's law;5323211]So come talk to me when you learn how to weld. Alright will do!!
