I tried using the pulse setting when welding a soda can and was really surprised that it helped....... I used the 32 rule that Jody uses for DC  and thin tube welding but it worked for AC also......I did notice one thing though that has me stumped.....I tack the can in 3 or 4 places and start welding from one of the tacks but when I get to the next tack I have a hard time continuing over the Tack......when I get to the last tack it seems to out gas and NOT weld?  making a whole that cant be filled........really weird I even punch vent holes in the bottoms of the cans.......No matter what I do it won't let me fill over the last tack?    WTF..Last edited by B_C; 04-01-2013 at 08:26 PM.  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock

Reply:B_C,Your biggest problem is using those pop cans instead of beer cans.  If you had been using beer cans, after practicing on thirty + cans you would have no noticeable holes, porosity or other issues. Hell, you probably wouldn't care which political party ran the country and you'd be welcoming the North Koreans to bring on the nukes.  Brent878:  BUD in blue?  That's not right.  Miller is blue, Bud is red."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder

Reply:I have been using Ginger Ale cans and no matter what I do cleaning wise, venting or welder settings it welds all around to the last 1/4 " and won't weld anymore?  I talked with Terry and he uses Pepsi cans?   with no problems.......I need to try a different type can just so I can rule that out  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock

Reply:Lol what is a linear accelerator?Did the torch or heat take off the ink on the cans or is that your prep work? Sometimes I find that less prep work is more. Quick brush and acetone.
