Anyone here have experience with this outfit: www.regulatortorchrepair.com?Or any other recommendations for quality rebuilding?
Reply:Your local welding supply will be able to provide someone who can do this for you, or they might have the ability to do it themselves for you. In either case it should get you a faster turn around. My local Airgas has had some torches and a regulator rebuilt for me in about a week turn around.CharleyMiller MM252Miller Bobcat 225NTMiller DialArc HF / DIY Cooler2 Victor O/A TorchsetsMilwaukee 8" Metal SawMilwaukee Dry Cut "Chop" Saw 5 Ton Wallace Gantry Various Grinders, Benders, etc.
Reply:I sent a torch handle and cutting attachment to Regulator & Torch Exchange. They called me with an estimate for the rebuild, had a nice talk with the guy. He explained what he was going to do, recommended that I allow him to install check valves on the torch (a reasonable up-sell), we discussed the price, and I got them back a couple days later. I had a good experience, and will return to them if/when I have something else to fix.
Reply:I would go to a local supplier as mentioned too. Show them what you have and get a estimate, it maybe worth to replace with new depending on how often you use them. If you use any tanks for your work it would help building a friendship with local guy.
Reply:The LWS doesn't deal with rebuilds. I'm told something to do with liability IIR could be BS. So that is why I'm looking to send out. I spoke with someone at the place I mentioned, gave me some estimates, reasonable, nice chat, but thought I see what others experienced.Everything I would send is good quality and would be hundreds more to replace, just old like me.
Reply:I have used these guys on several occasions.  I got excellent workmanship on torch and regulator rebuilds and the prices were reasonable.
Reply:I'd highly recommend them if you need to have torches or regs rebuilt. they do a top notch job and won't BS you. If the gear simply isn't worth rebuilding, they'll tell you that..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:I sent them a Smith flow meter, Harris oxygen and acetylene regulators, and an old Smith A1 Airline torch. The service was great, they called me with a full report and what it would cost before doing anything.Got everything rebuilt, one new gauge for the low side of the acetylene, new plastic faces for the rest of the gauges, new regulator to tank fittings, a bag of o-rings for other torch tips and they even had a tee adjuster for my NOS Airco flow meter. All for what one good regulator or flow meter would have cost.
Reply:Thanks for the report. I have a set of Harris 2-stage regs I have been meaning to send them. Maybe now I'll get off my @$$ and do so. JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps

Reply:Yes, I've used them.  For a vintage Victor 100 torch.  They did a great job (and, yes, he WILL try to up-sell you on the check valves).  But, overall, VERY pleased with their service and work. That being said, I just took a set of vintage Airco regulators to my LWS.  I don't have them back yet, to compare service.KevKevin / Machine_Punk from The Aerodrome Studio - Lincoln PowerMIG 210 MP - Meco N Midget w/custom welding station - Vintage Victor 100Current Projects: The Aerodrome Studio
