OK I bought a Miller S-22P12 for a case of Bud Light and if he needs something he can visit it. I will be running it on my TB 301G. I know I will need a 14 pin cable and a new gas hose. I downloaded the manual but manuals make me sleepy reading them. Can someone give me a brief rundown on suitcases? What is the difference between then I have read some are Constant Voltage and some are Voltage Sensing. I don't know what the difference is. I am trying to buy a Bobcat as well mainly for a generator with a welder option. I have searched and found it will not run that suitcase which is not a big deal.Boring useless back story so you can skip the following if you want.My plan is a small skid to drop in the dually and go. I AM NOT A WELDER NOR DO I PLAY ONE ON TV. I can burn rods, wire. Mostly maintenance welding over the years on machines. I am an electrical geek. I get to do remote pumping stations out in the middle of know where. So a small skid to fab up a few electrical control panel mounts would be nice. Thanks for your time.
Reply:The s22p12 is plug and play with the tb, not the bobcat. The s22p12 is a constant speed feeder vs a volt sensing "adjustable" speed feeder (the speed adjust based on volts in stick welding mode)Your feeder on your tb is a good pair.14 pin cable can be had for about $200 for 75'For a case of beer huh? A big YOU SUCK. mine cost me $200 (I gave it to my dad)
Reply:Here's my skid. The box is going to be replace with an air compressor (when I find one)And everything in the box will go in the box already in the truck.I'm also going to put a draw under the welder for hand tools/ torch stuff
Reply:I am thinking of a 48" wide max skid that I can load with the crane or the forklift. I can see this TB, a small gangbox, small torches ( probably propylene or propane not acetylene), small 3 hp air comp. I will not be doing a bunch of field work but when I do I want to have the basics with me.To bad miller doesn't make a diesel Trailblazer Airpak. I can't justify a huge machine for my little bit of field work I do. The shop is already loaded with everything we need.

Reply:Not a pro like the guys above, but I'll give it a shot.VS feeders, like the extreme VS series or the S32P's have a single input cable and run off of arc voltage.  They are designed to run off of CC machines and will vary the WFS to attempt to mimic true SC Mig welding-but they apparently don't do it so well in the lower voltage and WFS ranges.  They just can't adjust the WFS fast enough.  They have a separate ground clamp that needs to be attached to the workpiece.  No need for the expensive 14 pin cable, but also no remote control to the power source.  They usually have a switch to allow the use of them using a CV source, so they'll change to a constant speed feeder.Your S22P (and the newer 12RC) is a constant speed feeder.  It must be used on a CV output power source.  It needs to be hooked up to the source with an expensive 14 pin cable as well as the input power cable.  There's no separate ground cable that comes from it, it gets it's power to run from the power source via the 14 pin cable.  Because of this cable, it can be equipped with remote voltage capability.  You can adjust the voltage output of your power source with the dial on the feeder without having to walk back to the source each time. The resident feeder expert here is Steve 7A749.  He can help you out with any problems, modification or cables you may need for your feeder.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:Killdozer11 is that a Tundra double cab? How does it handle with that Airpak and tools in it? My 04 double cab doesn't have a problem with the weight. It has a problem with fuel I only get 14 mpg. DRF255 thanks for the breakdown I was wondering what thw differences where between types of feeders. Thanks guys. Have a great 4th be safe.
Reply:I installed over load springs on the rear.. bagging it is way to expensiveand the around town mileage sucks ..it's an 05Still gets better mileage than my 59 3/4 ton 4X4 though and a much roomier cab on the tundraBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ??
