Welding the soft plug in the head off the A John Deere. I didnt really need the experience but thats what happens now and then. Anybody else done anything like this or am I the only one.
Reply:I know traction engines have soft plugs on the crown sheet but a soft plug on a Deere is new to me. Looks like it was allowed to freeze up. Dan
Reply:Yes, I cant figure out how I did it myself but I have to confess. I bought some cast iron rod yesterday. It says it is nickel free. Dont know the reason for being nickel free unless nickel is bad for John Deeres. Ha.
Reply:If it is "Nickel Free", it is probably HOBART NOMA-CAST?Good rod!Nickel in the weld usually allows machining. You'll be able to grind that smooth enough to paint.I suggest drilling a hole in the corners to prevent the cracks from elongating. |
