Good mig for new welder

Reply:Doesn't look it has been well cared for but he says its in working order. What year was the unit manufactured?

Reply:The Miller 200 has always been rated very highly. A friend has one that he bought when they first came out, maybe 20 years ago and it's still working perfectly with no break downs. The machine in the pictures is rather dirty, I'd have to look at it in person and run a bead or two before buying a used machine, in any case. That may or may not be possible in an auction setting. The price is not bad compared to the Miller 250 series which it the successor to the 200. The 211 and 212 are a different configuration. although they are a good unit as well.

Reply:The unit can't be tested as the don't have a power source, that kinda sours the deal. He is willing to sell for $400.
Reply:Open the machine.  Look for leaking capacitors.  There's a bank of them on the left side of the machine (as you stand behind it) near the back.The motor is robust and pretty much never fails.  It's a transformer machine. Look for any burns on the very few boards it has.  Look that all the drive roller parts are there.  Check the input jumper is in the right place.Offer the guy $250 explaining that you can't test it, nor can any other buyer.  You can get alot of help here refurbishing it. Duaneb55 is the resident expert.Here's a look at mine.  I bought it for $299 including the spot panel and a Spoolmatic 1.
