Has anyone built a plasma beveling machine?

Has anyone built a beveling machine for pipe that will hold a plasma torch (handheld or machine type)? I have some pipe up to 8" that is going to get cut up for practice. I could cut and bevel in the lathe which would be the easy way, but I'm looking for another projectTOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:Never heard of it being done. But my experience isn't vast, or even existent, per se. But I would love a machine beveled pipe over flame cut.
Reply:Just build a set of pipe rollers, then build a torch holder to hold the torch at an angle. Turn on the torch and roll the pipe.
Reply:Here are three of many offthe shelf pipe / tube cutters. The first is from AKS in Cleveland,   a machine cable of cnc cutting of square rectangular and round tube....also can contour bevel flat plate. Reply:Walker, that would be the simplest way of doing things as I'm only thinking of this for my home shop. Just don't know how I could hook up the ground. Maybe something like a rotary positioner uses?Jim, do you have any info on the last device? I cant really tell how it is held on the pipe but it looks pretty cool.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE

Reply:Just get the hand crank rotary torch beveler and get the plasma attachment
Reply:justinT, unfortunately I can't justify that expense just for hobby use. I like the roller idea and have been doing some napkin sketches. This is something I definately don't need, it would just be a cool little project.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:@ Chris T - Surf to www.ljwelding.com and access the 'manual welding positioners' and 'pipe stands' links.  Options for driving (rotating) and holding the workpiece for plasma & O/A apps.  With a reduced budget in mind, you could simplify both the hand-crank assembly and roller pipe stands. The stow-away feature of the pipe stands would, however, be a desirement for me.Great projects to build.
