So does anybody use one of these?  I'm trying to figure out which welder generator would workout best for me.  I really really want a trailblaser 325 EFI with excell power.  However I don't need it.  This machine will be used primarily for welding and running a chop saw or grinder away from the shop (garage).  It will also be used for emergency backup power at the house.  I figure if I need to run flux or Mig I can always run a 115v unit off of the generator power.  However that's very unlikely.  I'm also considering a bobcat 225 or 250.  How much does running lights effect welding with these machines?  Not like a pile of lights just a shop light or two.  I have 0 experience with welder generators so please excuse my nubeishness.  I have looked into the smaller units like the bluestar but I want just a bit more zap and longer duty cycle.  Thanks!Miller Maxstar 200 strMontgomery Ward 250 AC/DC

Reply:believe the Wildcat has 6000 watts.  My Bluestar 185 has 5500.  Are you just going to keep this at home?  Not sure about where you are, but here in Colorado you have register any equipement over 500 lbs. that makes you money, just like a car.  And then the city also wants another cut it seems.  I really wanted a Ranger, but after I found this out, nixed the idea, since I mostly install fences, and only weld our gates up.  I'm an employee that buys his own tools, so I can't afford the extra tags.  I was going to go with a Wildcat, as they are below the weight limit, yet because they look like a fullsize, I figured I didn't need the hassle of being pulled over to prove it, because with my luck I would get another ticket for something else being not up to snuff. But the Bluestar is a great little machine.  I run my Thermal Arc 181i off of it, not at max of course.  It has 20 amps at 240, and will even run my 2.5 HP Makita compressor.  I don't stick much off it, just for practice and although not on par with the Invertecs at school, I can't complain.
