i would prefer local pick up, im in orlando florida. but freight shipping isnt so bad if its a heavy machine.im looking to buy an AC/DC TIG. nothing major. something around 150-175amps. i'll need it for steel and aluminum no thinker than 1/8 inch. must be able to run off 220v from my house. no generators or anything crazy. i dont have a preference to brand, but no crappy no-namers.i have 1000 cash right now. im willing to spend a little more if its worth it. email me pics and info. Reply:Since nobody else has responded, I guess I will.  You're not going to find an AC/DC TIG machine anywhere near that cheap.  The closest you'll find might be a used Miller Econotig which can occasionally be found as cheap as $1000, but will be woefully underpowered once you start welding much aluminum.  You can find older AC/DC TIG machines that fit your performance parameters for sale used priced between $1500 to $2500, but I'd be VERY suprised if you find a machine that's worth bringing home for anywhere near $1000.  I would suggest you keep saving money and look at the ThermalArc and HTP model lines.  These both have the sort of quality and support that will bring you many years of enjoyable service.  They don't have the sort of marketing expenses that the more recognized brands like Miller and Lincoln have, and their prices reflect that fact.  Bottom line:  TIG welders are not as likely to be languishing unused in garages and workshops as an old SMAW or MIG welder, so you're going to see far fewer offered for sale used, and since they are more costly than either and more specialized in their application, you're not going to be able to "steal" one as easy as you would a machine for other processes.  Good luck,BK
Reply:I found a couple older Lincoln machines in the Dallas, TX Craigslist that you might want to check out.  I'm not sure how far you'd be willing to drive to pick up a machine, though. . . . ?????

Reply:I found a syncro 250 with water torch and 350 amp torch, pedal, stick leads, lots of tungsten for around 1200$.  (older model)   It did need some work however, but a complete dream now. Love it.While you can definatley get burned buying used, sometimes you do come out on top. weld it like you own it
