anyone have any good ideas/pics of bed designs... im looking at building one for a 2000 chevy 3500 with a 6.5 diesel.im guessing it probably wouldn't be interchangeable with my 06 duramax. any suggestions/pics would be great.
Reply:I like to get ideas from commercially built beds and then ask people who have them how they like them and if there is anything they would change.My neighbor just built one and it is tough as nails, but I would use diamond plate for traction. He has stake pockets big enough for a full 2x4, not those factory pockets where you have to shave off a bunch just to get it to fit. I am planning a flat dump bed for mine and am planning on using at least 6 cross members. The bed will sit 3-4 inches above the factory bed bottom to allow for tire clearance with chains. I have air springs in the rear, so ride height when loaded is not an issue for me. She sits level loaded or empty. |
