Reduce the metal distortion due to welding effect

Hi all,Can somebody suggest me how to reduce the metal distortion during welding?Due to production requirement, we connect some brackets to flange and apparently the flange bend.FYI, e are currently applying flux core type (all parts are fully welded).Thanks.

Reply:If you're doing a bunch that are the same, see if you can bolt the flanges back to back to control distortion. If that's too awkward, bolt a blind flange or cut a plate to bolt on. If you're applying a lot heat things are going to pull.

Reply:When I'm fabricating, I make all kinds of extra tack welds to hole my pieces in place then going off the extra tack welds when I'm complete and the part has cooled. This works real well when fabricating on the welding table.  If you can't add extra tacks, you can always add extra clamps/cgrips etc to hold things in place and prevent distortion. I've also welded extra steel to things to keep things square etc and prevent distortion while welding.
