I got bored at school so I decided to draw up a snow bucket on Creo and put it on my "to do" list after college or when I had a chance to get the materials together. 2- 4x8 sheets of 1/4" steel showed up on the local craigslist for $300 for both sheets. I purchased the steel which only had minor surface rust. Then I got the sides and the edge with holes laser cut out of Grade 50 steel, and bought the 2x2x1/4 square tubing and 2.5x1/2 wear bars. Right now I figure I am in it for around $800 not bad considering a comparable one goes for $1400-$2000. I cut the sheets with our oxy-acetylene torch and welded it with the Hobart 210.
Reply:View from cab  2 inches from cab door, not bad for not measuring it
Reply:Beefed up the top quick attach and added a 5"x12" diamond plate step  The flat black color is actually Ez-Slide a graphite paint. This is the first time I'm using it so hopefully the snow doesn't stick to it.
Reply:You need to put something on that step for traction before you hurt yourself.  Bed liner with the rubber chunks in it or traction tape will work.My name's not Jim....
Reply:Once the paint is dry some grip tape is going on it.
Reply:That turned out really good. I like the grating to improve your field of vision. Can't wait to see some action photos.$800 in materials and a wealth of experience gained. Money well spent.
Reply:Very nice bucket! In the farm world, that would become a commodities bucket (soy hulls, cottonseed, wood shavings, and other light materials) until some yahoo would try to save some time and load a manure spreader or carry a more substantial load of gravel. Reply:That snow bucket turned out great.   Nice work and I am just North of you in Canada and I hope you don't need it much this winter.Miller Multimatic 215
Reply:Looks good.  What did you use for your bold on edge, plastic/rubber or is it steel too?Miller 250x & Lincoln V205-TSmith Oxy-Prop torch
Reply:Thanks for the compliments. The holes in the sides are for taller sides. My Bobcat dirt sides are similar to this. I hope I don't have to use this too much this winter. The first year we bought the machine and a snow blower it hardly snowed that winter lol. The bolt on cutting edge is a reversible 3/4" x 8" steel one. I doubt I will wear it out since it will see mostly a gravel yard.
Reply:Very nice work!!! I built an 80" snow/light materials bucket. I needed it to fit inside the 8' box plow I built, while trailering them."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
