Hello, i'm wanting to build a 3'x3' welding table for home use, and was wondering if its a good idea to put wheels on the legs so i can move the table to different spots if necessary.I've heard that sometimes a stray arc can sometimes damage the wheel or wheel bearing that moves the wheels.... is this true? or can i wheel on? Thanks!
Reply:The only way an arc can ruin a wheel bearing is if it grounds thru it.Meaning don't put your ground clamp on the perimeter of the wheel. Ground directly to your table top, and you will have no problem.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:Use some sort of locking wheel, so the table won't try to move on you if you happen to lean on it some while working. |
