Reply:I am only an amateur so I only have a small box of consumables. The LWS only being a few blocks away may have something to do with it too. This is actually the smaller box I used when I had the lincoln, I moved over to a 2" bigger box when I got the miller. 12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.I only have a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/VPT/244788508917829

Reply:I should show some of you "hobby" guys supplies to a few shops I've worked in. One shop was so cheap that you had to ask the foreman to get a new contact tip or grinding wheel. Wouldn't order rods until they were right out! I've heard worse too where a shop limited you to 3 outside cover plates a week! It's really hard to be productive when you're waiting 10 minutes for a grinding wheel or contact tip because the foreman was on his way to talk to the owner when you asked. A fancy mud tank got sent out before it was finished because the customer needed it for a new rig being set up in California and the owner was blaming it on the guys in the shop. He also claimed he had to turn down $300,000 in work because we were too slow. You can only take on the amount of work that will fit in the shop. At the time I worked there, there were only 2 stick welders and 6 MM 252's. It was such a joke! There were up to 12 welders working in the shop. They were too stupid to upgrade the guns on the 252's and kept replacing them with the stock light duty Miller guns. There were at least 3 broken MIG guns hanging up in the (empty) tool room. It was so bad that when I needed a machine, I was told to rob the gun off another machine. Then that machine couldn't be used. If you needed to stick weld something, you often couldn't because both machines were being used. It was like musical welders. The owner was making money but he was also losing a %^&$@! of a lot of it by being so bloody cheap!

Reply:I'm guessing they didn't want to loose you despite all your cursing at them? What is wrong with some companies? I get it that they don't want waste but being overly cheap slows production too. I kind of agree with not wanting guys to grab new ear plugs every break or every time they take them out.

Reply:Since someone brought up lens covers whats the normal rate of replacement when welding for a living. Do you pros take the stack apart and clean it daily. I probably dont swap mine out nearly enough in my home shop.Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Reply:Got all suited up today, ready to go to welding and noticed my tung was goobered up. Then I see the gas lens is goobered up as well, can't get the cup off, total loss. Go to grab a new lens and none in the box, no cups either. Instantly I thought of stick mans horde of consumables he posted here. I ran down tot eh lws and picked up some lenses and a couple odd cups (didn't have weldcrafts in stock), came home and back to work.12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.I only have a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/VPT/244788508917829
