I know, stupid question.I have a Hypertherm Powermax30. I've been using it for about a year. I had to make 44 6" x 6" - 3/16" plates. Thats 1056 inches I cut. Plus a bunch of small cuts over the year. I just made 4 custom hinges for two trap doors, with door stops. It' still cutting as good as when I bought it. The only thing I can figure is my cutting skills are just getting better.Vern
Reply:Well Vern2, that's just one of the benefits of buying a top quality machine as you have so wisely done.Long consumable life is determined by four basic factors:1) Quality machine design as mentioned already.2) Quality OEM consumables3) Clean air/gas supply4) Proper operator useBased on your report I'd have to say you've got all four pretty much covered.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I have a PowerMax 45 and have been using my consumables for about the same amount of time.Have probably done more cutting than youself and some not so nice cutting on some heavy sections.Ill adimit that the cuts have become a little wider but still cuts very acceptable quality.Might lash out and change them for the new year.

Reply:Originally Posted by Vern2Thanks for the nice words.Except when I have to cut some rebar. I always us my short 7" or 15" Plazma "T" Square. Basically two pieces of 3/16 bars with a "T" top. Keeps Torch head 90 degrees to work surface and runs stright as an arrow. Only thing I have to do is keep a steady speed. Now you know my secret.Vern2
