alright so i have been trying to decide if i need a plasma cutter for a long time now and im kind of in a position where i might be able to buy one. I am looking at a thermal dynamics cutmaster 52 and a miller spectrum 625 extreme.application will be mostly personal use for now however i would like this machine to last and be large enough that in the future when i want to start taking on welding jobs that i wont be wishing i had a larger machine- i tend to buy the best machine i can afford in hopes that i wont have to replace it, my current welder is a millermatic 250, would like something along this quality for a plasma cutter as well-. I have a cutting torch and its painful watching my gauges always at 0psi or close to it and having to fill almost every time i go to do a job it seems. mostly i do 4x4 fab and about 90% of the cuts i do are in the 1/2 or uner range so that is all i want in a plasma cutter, a good clean cut on anything up to 1/2. 3/8 and over i can cut with the torch no problem.final note...has anybody dealt with cyberweld? they seem to have the best prices that i have found, i think its because some of their stuff is old stock from last year ect...but its not such a good deal if they dont deliver or something of that sort
Reply:I bought my dynasty and my 251 from them. They would answer any questions on the phone accurately and the shipment arrived with alacrity. As much as I would have liked keeping the dollars locally, it was much more practical to buy from them at the lower cost and the free shipping.
Reply:Personally I love the Miller welders but would buy the TD plasma over the Miller anyday. I think the Millers are a decent plasma but the TD I believe is much better. Just my 2 cents though.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:Don't buy a plasma cutter without at least looking at...and trying a Hypertherm unit. Hypertherm is produced in USA (New Hampshire)....the company is owned by the employees...and have worked through the economic downturn without a layoff. Hypertherm is the largest producer of plasma cutting equipment and has a reputation for quality, reliability and for having the longest consumable parts life in the business. Hypertherm makes the torches for Miller units.....T-D's torches are now have a "made in Mexico" tag!If you are spending most of your time under 1/2"....take a look at the Hypertherm Powermax45....it is the most popular hand held plasma...bar none!I may be a little biased....I've worked for Hypertherm for over 31 years....but give us a shot!Jim Colt
Reply:I like Cyberwelds free shipping, so you know right up front what you're paying. Also, they're a fairly small shop staffed by people that actually care. One time I placed an order online - 10 minutes later my phone rang. It was a nice girl from Cyberweld with a question about my order."We live in an age when unnecessary things are our only necessities. "   - Oscar WildeMaxstar STL150Eagle CPM30 Bender
Reply:i bought mm251, 200dx, and 375 from themgreat co.
Reply:Bought 3 welders and various accessories from them . Good pricing, no sales tax and free shipping. Most big items are drop shipped from a location closer to you rather than coming from NJ where they're located.

Reply:There are several good & reliable web sites out there that sell Hypertherm plasma cutters. I bought my Hypertherm PowerMax 45 last November from weldersource.com for $1500.00 Cyberweld is also another good site.  Your best bet is a web search for Hypertherm salesIf your in the military or a veteran I know weldersource gives a discount, free consumables and shipping.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.

Reply:http://cgi.ebay.com/Hypertherm-Power...d=p3286.c0.m14These people are great to deal with also. Torchking is their Ebay handle but the parent company is Harris Welding Supply    Yes the same company as "Harris" torches.    An old company with customer service that is great.   Not knocking Miller, TD or anyone else.   Hypertherm is my choice but most definitely not the cheapest.  My opinion is you get sooooo much more for the few extra $$.$$ they cost.  Their machines will always do everything their advertising states & more.IF IT WORKS, DON'T FIX IT2 Lincoln CV-300 / LN-7 GMALinde-VI 253,400 & 450 w/MIG35 feedersCNC Table with Oxweld O/A & Hypertherm 1250G3Lincoln Ranger GXT 250Hobart-MicroWire 300ESAB Heliarc 161ESAB-Mobilemaster 2 CC/CV Feeders& more
Reply:I have had nothing but good luck dealing with Cyberweld.com i bought my miller elite and jackson fixed shade.
Reply:Thermal Dynamics or Hypertherm.. Can't go wrong with either...  I bought my TD 101 from Cyberweld.  They missed one accessory that I had on my order and once I mentioned it they where very apologetic about the oversight and sent it to me ASAP.  Good company and I would order from them again.
Reply:hey guys, thanks! im going to keep my eyes open for one of the hypertherm 45 machines...pick one up if/when i can manage to get the $$ together
Reply:Whats your location? maybe someone close can let you try it out...
Reply:as of tomorrow i will be located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Reply:well this thread is old and i havnt been checking it since i moved out here but....a hypertherm powermax1000 came up in town....i can pick it up for $800 and im thinking i should jump on it, hasnt been used much and i know the guy selling it....thoughts opinions? this thing would pretty much totally replace my torches except for when i just need to heat something thats not convenient to heat in the forge.
Reply:If the PM 1000 is not to many years old & in really good shape $800 isn't the deal of the century but seems to be a fair price given your description.  The powermax 45, by most user reports ,can't be beat in it's size class.  Still good used Hypertherm machines are a bit hard to find as most people that have used them & had a chance to compair them "HANDS ON" against others. Do then to hold on to them unless upgrading...IF IT WORKS, DON'T FIX IT2 Lincoln CV-300 / LN-7 GMALinde-VI 253,400 & 450 w/MIG35 feedersCNC Table with Oxweld O/A & Hypertherm 1250G3Lincoln Ranger GXT 250Hobart-MicroWire 300ESAB Heliarc 161ESAB-Mobilemaster 2 CC/CV Feeders& more
