taper attachment for a lathe

I realize this is the welding projects area, but I'm willing to bet there are a fewlathes on this forum.Not to mention the taper attachment involves a little welding.This is a very basic design, something I needed for a project at the time.I'm posting vid#2.  Vid 1 was just an unnarrated demo.Thought it might be of interest to some.  Hope you like it.
Reply:Nicely done!On turning tapers with a lathe I pull the tool into the work, so in your case here I would turn from large diameter to small. Even with anti-friction bearing type attachments you can get small steps in the taper from any clearance in the attachment slide & bearing. Sometimes if things are a little loose the steps can look & feel pretty ugly.Matt
Reply:Welcome Tony. Interestingly I watched your video on Youtube the other day and found your design very clean and simple. I don't recall how I landed on it.  Taper attachments for most lathes are often hard to find and expensive. I'm sure your video will help others build for their lathes. Keep up the good work.
Reply:Great work, I really appreciate the video as I've been learning how to do more complicated things in machining as I'm hoping to learn how to do more than turning down pieces and cutting pieces.
Reply:Nice work.In the past I was looking for, or considering building a taper attachment for my lathe.  In the end I found it easier and cheaper to get a hydraulic tracer.  Got it almost done, all that remains if finishing the template mount, and I have the stuff to do that.  But other projects got in the way and I've not gotten around to finishing it...
