Is there a noticeable difference from a brand name electrode to fleebay cheap kind? Which brand would you recommend and advise against?
Reply:Man do a search and you will find a lot of info on this. That said, I wouldn't buy Radnor which is Airgas brand, and I wouldn't buy from box stores. If I find a deal on hermetically sealed tins of rod, with a name brand, I will buy them. Instead of asking about what brands not to buy, it will be easier to ask what people like, and you'll still get too any answers. Post your location, so people in your area can tell you what's available. For 6010 I like Lincoln 5P red rod, and for Lo-Hy 7018, I like McKay, ESAB Atom Arc, Lincoln and Hobart. But around me, Lincoln and ESAB are the easiest to find.Welcome to the site."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I've only ever used Lincoln Excalibur and Fleetweld 5P+, Atom Arc and Sureweld 10P+. All worked great. I can't really say which brand is better, but I felt like I had better results with ESAB products. Or rather, less issues with electrodes going crazy.
Reply:Can be a huge difference. I stick with Lincoln mostly, Hobart sometimes. |
