Reply:I mostly followed the plans from Linn Lumber that he makes available, with some ideas from E Z Boardwalk. Blades and guide rollers are from Woodmizer.
Reply:Welcome to the forum Al. I'm just north of you in Wenatchee. Retired a couple of years ago, and bought a Lincoln MIG and then a little later bought a Lincoln Precision TIG. Always wanted to learn to weld, now I have the time to learn. Having a blast. This is a great forum, lots of knowledge and experience. Some of the members don't use a lot of words to say what's on their minds, but welding isn't for sissys.Last edited by WenValley; 12-14-2013 at 07:46 PM.Reason: typo
Reply:That's a cool project and something I've always wanted to build. Also noticed the old Ford in the background and wouldn't mind seeing pics of it. Good job.

Reply:I see you have some nice Douglas Fir (standing and on the ground). How are you ripping it into lumber? My boss have a "flip" style sawmill and a major drawback is he is limited to 8" of width but it is easy to rip with. Reply:Hi, Doug fir downed by ice storm. 36+' long to be used for barn/shop roof I am building. Shorter wide logs quarter sawn for inside the house trim. Building saw was a lot of fun. The saw frame is set at an angle to the cut so it pulls itself along . Going forward and cutting, easier than going back..Will mill 36" wide planks. Still lots to do, with the tig in the basement.Attachment 558881 Attached Images
