Reply:First rule in my shop is you can"t use mine, so you better have a backup hood or you clean the toilets for the rest of the day.Second is clarity. Reply:Any one sensor will activate the filter.Having more becomes important when welding in an area where the sensor may get blocked. Many welders like large viewing areas ,but when you weld your only looking at a small spot.Large windows and more sensors won't make you a better welder.Comfortable good fitting head gear is more important,try on a hood before you buy it.
Reply:Ive got a Miller "pro Hobbie" my self. Its a auto darking unit and seems to work great. Ive got no complaints. A bit pricey up front, but compared to a fixed shade its the cats meow.Pidge
Reply:It also depends on the process.  I got away with a HF for around 10 months while I had my MIG, but when I got my TIG welder the hood wasn't big enough so I was getting sunburned.  The 2 sensors on the HF were not enough and when TIG welding around corners I would get flashed.  Moved to a Lincoln 3350 and all is good now.Syncrowave 210HH140Victor O/A

Reply:Keep in mind that some hoods use a non standard size lens and that a replacement lens can get expensive or hard to find.

Reply:I have a HF hood. Works well for  what I do. Can't grind with it and the way I have it set it will darken with the orange ball at the end of the mig gun. Just do hobby/farm welding with it. The blue flame adjustable auto dark.

Not trying to kick your donkey but I hear some of the prices guys are paying for non standard size lenses and it gets a little pricey for a full time welder. I have also heard that some hoods on the market take a different inner and outer lens. All my hoods are of the two standard sizes and I pay 19 cents each delivered for the small lenses when purchased in bulk making a lens change out 38 cents. Would love to hear what others are paying for replacement lenses in these new hoods.
