Ok, So I had my Fenner plow pump apart a while ago and put need O rings and such as well as upgraded to a 3.1cc/rev pump. Worked good. However I failed to tighten one of the nuts that cover the cross over relief adjustment screw. So the Dec 14 storm I lost it and it started leaking fluid. I tried to find this part everywhere. I was wasting time for today's storm Dec. 17th. I went to 5 places and the last hyd. hose fitting place had a nut with the right thread but it was some sort of an adapter. I got it with O rings for 5bucks. Went home and machined the part I did not need off, welded the hole up and then had to machine a grove for the O ring. Took all of half hour. It took longer going to places and trying to find the part.Pics.The orig. cap on the left. There are 2 for this pump. Good thing I had this to measure off of. The adapter nut on the right. After machining the nut and making a landing for the weld.welded hole shut.Machined for the O ring.Done. That is not a leak. It was just residue from the leak that I had.www.tjsperformance.comDynasty 300 DXHTP 240HTP Microcut 380Hyperthem 85JD2 Hyd Bender and HF Hyd Ring Roller all in one =(Frankenbender)Bpt. Reply:Nice repair.  My question is why does stuff always break down in winter?
Reply:Nice job working with what you could find My plow refuses to break in the summer as well - pretty inconsiderate Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:If your snow plow breaks in the summer it is defective, snowplows are not supposed to break when the weather is nice or after all the plowing is done. It is a design feature that they break right at the beginning of a major storm, I've never had a plow break any other time, so I'm sure they are designed this way for reasons I've yet to understand.Mr. HE

Reply:This kind of thing is why I buy tools.I have saved many times the cost of my tools by making or repairing, obsolete, unavailable or custom parts for machinery that has to be up and running immediately. That doesn't even take into account the time and money running into town to get a part costs ,or the HE!! time I avoid trying to find a part that nobody has or will take a week to get here.
Reply:Originally Posted by BistineauY'all are using them at the wrong time of year. Around here, everyone that uses a plow, does it early spring to early summer. If it breaks, the weather is decent enough to get out there and get it fixed and continue plowing till it's done. Then the plows are put away and not used during the winter, especially during a bad storm. So get out there next year and get your plowing done sooner while the weather is nice, and let it sit up during the cold winter months while you go hunting or something.

Reply:Dave, I feel your pain. My plow is cut apart right now too. I'm waiting until Thursday to work on it though. That's when our next storm comes. If the temperature is not in the negatives or there's not enough snow I refuse to work on my equipment.  No need to get too comfy.Arcon Workhorse 300MSPowcon 400SMTPowcon SM400 x 2Powcon SM3001968 SA200 Redface1978 SA250 DieselMiller Super 32P FeederPre 1927 American 14" High Duty LatheK&T Milwaukee 2H Horizontal MillBryan

Reply:Thanks everybody. It worked out fine. The funny thing is there is a local plow installer that has shelves and boxes of old pumps and stuff and he knew what I was looking for but could not help me. I told him what I was going to do and his eyes rolled in the back of his head as I lost him. I just thanked him and contined on with my journey.T.J.www.tjsperformance.comDynasty 300 DXHTP 240HTP Microcut 380Hyperthem 85JD2 Hyd Bender and HF Hyd Ring Roller all in one =(Frankenbender)Bpt. Reply:Very nice fix. I often wonder how I'd manage without the tools and skills to fix stuff. Half the stuff I need they don't stock (or make)... the other half I can't afford.  It seems as if there is always something broken around here and it never happens at an opportune time. As if there is ever a good time for a break down.

Reply:Hey I can brake plows with the best of them! However I can hook you up with a couple of Brazilians who are probably the best I've ever seen. In just one medium sized storm they managed to do more damage to my plow than I'd been able to do in a whole season before with 2 36" snows. I'd just rebuilt it and reinforced the A arm and they destroyed all that work, took out both new angle cylinders as well as doing a good job Fing up the rebuilt tranny. All this at twice what I normally pay my regular driver too!If they don't work out I can also hook you up with a few who manage to roll backhoes into basements about twice a week..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Nice to have the tools and resources to do all of that; welding, machining, etc.  Good job on the repair!

Reply:Obviously you need way more training. You have that backwards. You put gas in the diesels... Get it straight!  Diesel in the gas motor is annoying. Gas in the diesel is destructive.  Heavy loads of Ether in the diesel blows up motors even faster.
