I was working away today and thinking about this site, and thinking about how much info is there for anyone in the business or even interested in welding. Even as I slowly approach the age of 60, and a welding career of almost 36 years ,there is always something I don't know or forgot over time from lack of practice. Even the critics, usually have something to offer.
Reply:Yeah, makes ya wonder what people did 30 years ago without the internet and all this useful information. Oh that's right, people worked instead of sitting on their butts looking at screens!

Reply:I too am about your age, been welding since before I was a teenager. I built a lot of projects with acetylene, an AC welder, once a rented MIG, longed for more. Home is kind of remote, education for adults 20 miles away is seldom very educational. I've taken a few night courses, I sense they are always tailored to long time unemployed, exploring new career choices. Some guy with a college degree, a stick welder, and 6013 gonna show me how to lay a bead on flat 1/4" plate. Been there, done that. People like Jody, Chuck E 2009, and even Wyatt Swaim can give something valuable. The people here range from beginners, to world class experts. They are willing to help in the learning process. Zap does something for beginners no one else has done! Only once in a while, do they ridicule, then for good reason. This has been great! Once again THANKS PEOPLE!An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. A pessimist is usually right, when wrong, is delighted, and well prepared. |
