Hey guys, name is Jared.  New to the forum.  Thought I would post up some pictures of what I've been up to in the past few months.  I'm a production welder who recently got a mini "fab" shop of my own set up in my garage.  I have an introduction thread here if you want to know more about what I've worked on in factories.  http://weldingweb.com/register.php?a...1d69056c160072I'm working on a minibike.  212cc 6.5hp
Reply:When building my welding table I had no table to work on.  The framing was welded together with a 110 hf flux core welder.  Now I have a 230 gas mig welder. The two pieces of 1x1 on the seat with the holes drilled, that was a piece of scrap used for first setting up the 230 welder.  Puttin scrap to good use, something I learned to do very well in the factories.Last edited by jared8783; 12-15-2013 at 06:43 AM.
Reply:Welcome Jared.  Sweet mini-bike build bro!"Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Reply:This is an experimental rocket stove cooker I built.  Please don't judge my craftsmanship on this one.  Like I said it's experimental.  I cut it apart and welded it back together playing with different designs til I got it working well.  As you can see it boils a large pot of water with little wood.

Reply:Going to be a good looking minibike!  Looks like a lot of notching on the curves?

Reply:Got myself started on a small table lamp.  Man these little projects are fun compared to what I'm used to welding in the factories.
Reply:Great fabrication. You did an excellent job on those projects. I want to see more of the bike. Thanks for posting!PlasmaCam CNC cutterLathe and Band SawClamps

Reply:Here are a couple of pics of a hatch I found in my garage cleaning off shelves.  The wooden handle was absolutely done for, didn't grip the head at all.I put this sch 40 scrap pipe on for a handle that will last forever.  Not done yet.  Gonna put parachute cord on the handle probably to make it a survival handle.  What do you guys think?  What would you do for a finishing touch on it?  Some paint maybe?
Reply:The lamp is done.  Here it is, my artsy fartsy side that is

Reply:Yeah I'm hoping the paracord will help it.  I did the steel handle because doing repairs the the factories, wooden and fiberglass handles on hammers don't hardly last a month if you're lucky, then we just weld some pipe to the head.  Put a lot of tacks on the handle for better grip.  You don't want to use these hammers without gloves.  But the handles DON'T break.
