does anybody know of a cheaper brand of electric id mount pipe beveler for 3 inch pipe.  i am practicing in my shop and i am just using a grinder to bevel the pipe. it is taking too much time and it is doing a ****ty job. i found a couple of proffesional models but they are 4 - 5 grand. i am beveling 6 pipe ends on the day i am welding. dont need anything super high end, just something decent that will do the job.
Reply:3" pipe?.. lol.. by the time you get the beveler set up, i could've had it beveled and prepped..lol..if you're not livin on the edge, you're takin up too much room..
Reply:i am lazy lol.  this is what i am looking for but not so expensive. perfect job everytime..
Reply:I found  cheap pipe beveler for you, your welcome
Reply:ha lmao, i have 2 of them already. like i said i am lazy.
Reply:Find somebody with a lathe instead?

Reply:you can put a very good bevel on a 3 inch pipe in about one minute. You should get good at it if you want to be working with pipe.UA Local 598
Reply:I say spend the few min it will take to bevel that with a grinder.Come try it out and stay a while.

Reply:I use these all the time to hog out the inside of holes.  Work great.  You can use them with an angle grinder, or a straight grinder. About 5 bucks apiece. It's a standard stocked item at my LWS.  Bevel, round, hog..............very handy and very aggressive Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I think the end result of trying to find a beveler thats cheap, just proves it is expensive to be lazy.
Reply:i guess i will be sticking with the grinder. just thought there maybe an easy fast and CHEAP way do do it. just wanted to spend more time welding and less time grinding. thanks for the help, but it looks like i need to take off my skirt and suck it up and do it the old fashion way unless i want to spend 5 grand.
Reply:I've always felt that running the weld is secondary to fitup.  It's the last thing you do.  By the time you get to it, you're worn out.  LOLSucks, but true"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Was on my way to make something to eat, and call it a nightBut I had to leave this. The time to determine the correct angle, the time to use a template to get the proper profile, the time (with your tongue sticking out the side of your mouth) to do a good torch job.All capped of with a 15 second weld.  The time was in the prepNow I can go eat Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:i used one for 6"-24" pipe.. i miss the dang thing.. nothing could beat it.. but on anything smaller?.. you gotta be kidding me...lol..lol..... lord i wish i'd walk up on someone beveling 3" pipe like that.. one of us would be in tears.. either from laughter or shame... hahahhaa...if you're not livin on the edge, you're takin up too much room..
Reply:i have no shame. lol.   i am good at beveling with the grinder, i also like to have all the cool tools. just not 5000 bucks cool. oh well glad everybody had a chuckle. back to the grinder. oh yeah and i mean an id mount beveler like in the video, not to bevel the inside. thanks sorry for the confusion.
Reply:Get an axle spindle and an old 3 jaw chuck.  Mount the chuck on the spindle and the spindle to something solid.  Then use the rotation of the grinder to spin the pipe as you grind.  We cut out coupons with a flame beveler but we use something like that to clean them up.  Once you get good at it you can leave a damn near machine finish every time with a flap wheel.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Use a belt or disk sander, If you rigged up a fence for the right angle you could likely bevel one in about 30 -40 seconds. you could also just set up a couple of rollers and bevel it with a hand grinder and flap wheel in about the same amount of time. I do agree with all the other posters about fitup, and if you are unwilling to spend a whole minute fitting up a pup then why would you want to be a pipe welder? It is hard work.
