Just wanted to say thanks to all the members that post lots of useful info. I usually learn something evry time I log in. I dont know who first posted the trick of welding a bearing race inside of a blind hole to shrink it out but man is that the cats meow. 2" dia race ran around it with the mig turned it over and race fell right out.Millermatic 252millermatic 175miller 300 Thunderboltlincoln ranger 250smith torcheslots of bfh'sIf it dont fit get a bigger hammer

Reply:Not sure how to post a link. Do a search for shrinking bearing races. I was amazed when I tried it. Have done it up to 4.5 " outter diameter. Just run as hot of bead as you are comfortable with so you dont burn through. Make sure you can control the weld. Dont worry about stops and starts.Millermatic 252millermatic 175miller 300 Thunderboltlincoln ranger 250smith torcheslots of bfh'sIf it dont fit get a bigger hammer |
