so i was welding a new spindle on a wagon today had the mig cranked all the way up when it just quit in the middle of a weld i first thought i triped the duty cycle but the wire still came out and the gas when you pull the trigger so i let it sit for 10 min shut it of turn it on still no arc where should i look first thanks
Reply:first, this welder only has a 20% duty cycle limit. that is 2 minutes on and 8 minutes off. When welding near max output. You might have damaged the thermostat inside the weld transformer (find two small black wires).Check the diode assembly on top of the transformer. need to have voltage on the red and white wires when the trigger is pulled. Voltage should very with heat setting. Check all large wires from transformer and diodes to wire drive assembly. Make sure no connections have melted in two.The pcb, wire drive and gas valve are powered from the small transformer and do not have any thermostats.Cooling fan should run even if the thermostat opens up.If you would like the service and parts manual send me your e-mail by private message.
Reply:ok thanks now i have a place to look i'll dig into it and get back to ya
Reply:opened her up today and i noticed on the board that the zip tie that hold this got melted and on one end it looks a lil burnt can this be my problem or is it else where thanks
